Shopping List for One Week for one person.
When I shop it’s like a party. I often get compliments about my shopping cart full of rainbow colored veggies. I can take a cart full of mysterious raw ingredients and turn it into super powerful health giving and mouth watering dishes with little effort.
When first starting, give yourself plenty of time to get to know the scene. Shopping should be fun like an adventure. All this new food and knowledge of how to use it is bringing new possibilities to your life. Approach shopping with a playful attitude. Have fun savoring the sights, smells, and tastes and meeting people. Learn where your food comes from. Ask the food employees questions. Read the labels. If you can find an hour or two that is great. Otherwise make shorter smaller trips until you get all stocked up.
Generally it is much more efficient to shop once a week big than several smaller trips throughout the week. Although everyone finds their own rhythm and timing.
This diet cost between $75 and $200 per week. (You can make it work on $75).
One pound of red meat per day so seven pounds total.
I get the least expensive cuts which are: ground, sirloin roast, eye of round roast, London Broil.
I also get some organ meat like heart, liver, and tongue and kidney if available.
Usually I get about 3-4 lbs. ground and 3-4 lbs. stew meat, London Broil, or Sirloin Roast. If I can find some ground heart I will get that. I will also get a package of frozen beef liver (about a pound).
Organic pasture raised grassfed chicken and Wild Caught Fish (this is optional and some people prefer to do red meat only.) On the other hand some people prefer Wild Caught Fish only and the chicken can be amazing as well when prepared with the Cerveche method.
I keep some things on the freezer. You can even ask at the meat dept. for them to pack things in 1/2 lb. increments so you can just throw them in the freezer and get one out at a time as you the day before. So you are constantly rotating from freezer to fridge.
This way of eating has more to do with seeking out the highest quality raw and fresh organic grasfed foods than it does with preparation. Procurement is the key. Prep is very simple and minimal.
Bones for marrow and for soup (or easiest to buy bone broth already made)
Gelatin Powder (Probably need to order direct from Great Lakes Gelatin. I like the hydrolyzed bovine variety.)
The best most expensive eggs. Should be both ORGANIC as well as PASTURE RAISED. The definition of these varies but the quality can be determined by the yolk. The most orange the better. If you are going to do 3 eggs per day then you need two dozen for the week. That’s a good place to start. Double it, of course, if you are doing 6 per day. And double that if you are doing 12 per day.
Coffee: One pound of whole beans that are: Organic, Shade Grown, Fair Trade< Light Roast
Butter: Grass Fed. Kerry Gold ($4/lb.) is one of the best. The very best is Goat Butter if you can afford it at $16/LB.
Stevia Powder (I like the green)
Salt (Celtic is great)
Olive Oil (only the best)
Coconut Oil (virgin, unrefined, cold pressed)
Spices: Rosemary, Italian Seasoning, Black Pepper, Curry, Tumeric, Anise, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Cardamom
Cocoa Powder (Repunzel, organic is great)
carrots /(5 lb. bag),
lettuce /1 or two
parsley /1 or two
arugula /one package
beets/ 2 or 3
ginger root/ handful size
kale, collards, or swiss chard/ one bunch
Goat Milk Keiffer
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
Berries or Fruits in season
Seeds and nuts (raw, organic) Get the ones in the packages that have been sprouted). Later you can sprout and dry them yourself if you get a food dehydrator.
